A/C not cooling after servicing. 1 Year, 5 Months ago

Just had the A/C serviced on my 90 Reatta and system does not really cool. System was converted to the new freon before I got the car. On my other cars when I place a thermometer it usually reads about 40 degrees out of the vents. The Reatta is 60.
1. Is this typical?
2. Has anyone changed the A/C compressor with a newer model like somthing from a 2000 Buick?
Thanks.

It is hard to say if your cooling is typical because there are so many factors that affect the duct temperature such as: outside temperature, air circulation through the condenser on the front of the radiator and the speed of the engine. If you have driven the car at speed for a while the air coming out of the duct should get down to about 40*F if set to max cool with a 134a system on 95*F days like we are having. 134a is not as efficient r12 in these cars.

That's why I was wondering if a newer compressor one designed to work with 134a would work better?
Thanks
